Jeep Newb
Hi folks,

Just found this forum through a Facebook post by MetalCloak. Looking forward to seeing what's here.

I bought my first Jeep in 1985. It was a 1980 CJ7. Loved that Jeep, put a lot of blood, sweat, and, well, not tears but maybe cursing, into that Jeep. And money. Lots of money. As the saying goes, "Just Empty Every Pocket." But my family outgrew that 4-seater when the 3rd girl came along and I had to sell it.

Flash forward to 2012: the two oldest girls were in college, the two youngest at home, four-door Jeeps were available, and I had the income to once again support the habit. The Age of Aquarius had arrived with all the planets aligned once again. So I ordered what I hoped would be the "perfect Jeep," well, at least for us. And I got darned close.

In April of 2012, I became the proud owner of a brand-spankin'-new (2 miles on the odo) Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, Dozer Yellow, with the max. tow package, and basically no other add-ons (except, of course, the Rubicon package). The one fly in that otherwise beautiful ointment has been my (I'll-thought-out) decision to forego the half-doors (Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! . . .) I've regretted that decision a thousand times.

And in true Jeeper fashion, I've spent the last 4 years once again emptying every pocket into my latest obsession. A few of the highlights are: 4.5" AEV lift, 37" MTRs, 5.13s, a "BR6" front brake upgrade, mostly Poison Spyder armor, Synergy steering components, a 2008 hard top, and a pretty extensive list of lesser modifications. I'll probably put together a concise "build thread," and post up later on.

I like to run the trails in the Sierra Nevada of California (western slope) and probably my favorite is Fordyce Creek. But there are some other lesser (but still great) trails I love as well. Swamp Lake, and basically anything in the Shaver Lake area, I'm up for. I've yet to do the Rubicon, but it's obviously on the short list. So many trails; so little time! I also went out to Moab in 2013 for the Jeep Jamboree USA and ran Steel Bender, and Fins and Things. Man, that place speaks to me. Can't wait to go back!

Well, that's a snapshot of who I am (Jeep-wise). I'm looking forward to getting to know the forum and the members here. Best regards!
