Hey everyone,

My name is Ryan Sullivan hailing from Boston,MA. I love Jeeps and the community that they have created. Have had many Jeeps in my life and last year I decided to start a JK build (I'll make a build thread when time allows it). Here is the current progress:

Thanks, she is a work in progress. Got to test out the 4.5" Metalcloak Game Changer with the rocksport shocks and my new 37" Cooper STT Pro's on that trip 2 weeks ago, those tires with that lift is a great combo and I am more than happy with the results

I like the rocksports, but I think I can make the ride even better. I have a lead on a set of ARB OME BP-51, so we will see what happens

I have Cooper STT Pro's 37x13.50r17 load range "E"
Perfect. So you walked me into a question I have always wondered about. You have a load range E tire, I have them on my TJ also, and they should run 65 to 80 psi. We run them at 30 so the tire runs flat on the road and for a better ride, but we never fully stretch the cords. When the tire rolls without the cords stretched, more heat is built up and the tires should wear out faster. BUT, can anyone prove or disprove this?

My Kumho's were also "E" rated, and even though you can run them at 65+ psi that is if you purchased "E" because you NEEDED them (as in a HD or Superduty) for a light vehicle like a Jeep under 30 psi is what you need to run flat, do the chalk test if you have not already. Those Kumho's got 50k+ miles on them and still had tread to spare... So i am going to say there are many more factors that go into this question, like: Rubber compound, weight of vehicle, avg speeds, psi, and driver input (how you drive).

Ryan, Welcome. Jeep looks great and I am glad to hear that you are enjoying it.

Brian, To a point you are correct. The issue we run into on lighter vehicles is that the there is designed to support max load at max pressure. Thank fully because we are not running at the top of the speed rating I have never seen heat be an issue on a radial. If you were going to maintain higher speeds the tire pressure would need to come up to keep heat down. The main thing is making sure you do have enough air to properly support the Jeep.
