Chief Edition Dream Build - MischiefMaker 3.0

Very nice build.
Thanks!

It’s funny how things have evolved...when all is said and done I will have done this three times (even though I swore I wasn’t going to be one of those Jeepers 🤣...) but I wouldn’t have done it any other way.

I really miss the full width look of his first 7 or 8 months. It was such a cool look...albeit way less capable.

Thanks for your insight.
I have the TJ, so options are very limited.
At the moment, I never use the back seat in my Jeep, so the tire is laying back there, and tied down with straps.
When I go out wheeling, I have a box that sits on the tire that has tools and stuff.
I have not had to do an overnight trip with this configuration, and that could be an issue if I had to.

We will possibly test out how much room we really have next year on one of the MJ Adventure trips.

Thanks

Todd
Can’t wait to hear how it goes...Maybe I’ll get to see in person. I plan to attend those events next year (unless there is a tire size limit, like with the Jeep Jamborees).

You might also want to consider the Gatekeeper from Excessive Industriesz I have a friend who just got one of those and plans to keep her 42” PBRs in the rear cargo area. 😬

I can’t hardly wait. Tell Dan to get on it with them wontons
I'm really struggling to stay patient. As you know...Dan is great and has been incredibly helpful over the past few weeks.

I think the biggest delay will be the transfer case. I planned on everything to arrive by 10/17 and it looks like everything should arrive pretty much on schedule. The transfer case was a last-minute addition and since the Chief Edition is just a Sahara-based appearance package... I'm really eager to get rid of the 2.71:1 low range of my existing TC and experience the difference at 5:1 in 4Lo! :D

The transfer case may be your best upgrade you have elected to do. It’s a night and day difference and makes wheeling so much more enjoyable. I can’t wait to upgrade mine to an atlas so that I can have two wheel lo for the trails.

Thats good to hear. I was a bit torn between including the supercharger or TC in this phase of the new build and I changed my mind last minute in favor of the TC.

With the added width of the new setup I am really excited not just for the new crawl ratio, but to see if 2 wheel lo makes a difference on the tight trails I run most often here in the NE. I've heard that it really helps :)

So...this has been a great week. Almost everything for the new build has arrived, but today's delivery has me feeling a bit nostalgic and reflected one of the hardest decisions I had to make - whether or not to keep my MC dual rate coils and 6Pak shocks.

Here's why...

Like all new jeepers, I made some questionable mod choices early on, but my 4.5" Mid-arm Game-changer lift was not one of them. That suspension took MM to places (and over obstacles) where other, similarly equipped, rigs struggled to go - sometimes with better drivers behind the wheel :ROFLMAO:. It also handled much better on road than it did stock.

I kinda wish I had waited on the coil overs and seen what this suspension could do with these Fusion axles. But I guess shopping for Jeep parts while your jeep is out of commission is like going to the grocery store when you are hungry... everything seems like a 'why not?'
The past few months have been the best, but it's time to move forward. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about the new coil overs, but I'm holding on to my springs and 6Paks with the hopes that I'll find another JKU.

These are just the front shocks. The rears should be here next week and they are officially the last mod to arrive. Plenty to do in the mean time!

That's strange, I can see on both my laptop and phone. I'll include it in the next update (which should be up soon).
I have been noticing issues with embedded/attached photos on this forum lately. It's not unique to your thread, your build is killer BTW.

I have tried loading threads with pictures on different OS Mac/Windows as well as browsers Firefox/Chrome/Safari and sometimes they load and sometimes they don't...

If you don’t extend the towers into your cab and engine bay, you won’t have any advantage with the coil overs. Especially when comparing to 6-packs. They were made to give you that crazy up travel that coilovers can offer, while not requiring to extend the mounts. Just a thought.
