Steering Upgrade

Any advice on a good steering upgrade. I have a 04 TJ with 4" suspension lift and 35" tires. I read somewhere that a over the knuckle kit should be used with 35" tires. What's the advantage to this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Over the knuckle gets your tie rod up above the knuckle (hence the name). The benefit is to keep it away from rocks while offroad. If you were to bend a tie rod offroad your tires would be fighting each other. This may be exaggerated but instead of being near parallel | | they could be / \. There are many kits available from various suppliers, you'll have to do some research and see which one you would feel comfortable tackling.

I have not done the over the knuckle kit on my TJ, but I do run the Currie Correct Lynk steering upgrade.
I have beat it, dragged it and pushed rocks around with it and no issues.

I’m looking to do the same upgrade. I have an 05 LJ with a 4.5” Long arm on 35’s. I looked at the Currie kit for a while but I think I’ll ultimately go with the Ruff Stuff kit since you also drill the knuckles out to the 1 ton taper.
