We have put a MetalClock 3.5” lift on our 2018 Jeep JLU Rubicon. We had a cheaper lift on it before. The MetalClock lift made a huge difference in a great way. The Jeep rode like it was stock. The steering was better than stock. We purchased a a new Jeep for my wife. There will be no other lift but MetalClock for the new Jeep. We also have plans for installing a MetalClock lift for my son Dodge truck.

I have a 2020 JLUR with MetalCloak Front/Rear Bumpers and License plate relocation. Hoping to add a lift/fender liners at some point. My Jeep is my midlife crisis car. Got it last year for my 40th and last time I had one (or drove a manual) was over 20 years prior. Love it. As far as my mods:

MetalCloak Rear Bumper:
Oh boy this thing was a pain. It looks great. It's built great. Install was... a pain. The bumper has this kind weird hook that needs to go around the factory hitch and it was just a nightmare to get on. Once I did I found out that the factory hitch lugs keep the bumper from getting snug enough to the frame to allow the tire to clear. The swing gate won't close. Took it to an installer for the front bumper and they confirmed that with the factory tire carrier and hitch this is a no go. I'm have a tire carrier mount and hinge braces to go on next week which should solve that problem. I like the bumper, but I wish it just had a hitch built in.

MetalCloak Front Bumper:
After the rear I finally took this to the shop for an install. Went to one of their listed Gold Installers, Honest Speed Shop, in C-bus. They did a great job putting the front bumper on and the new XRC Gen 3 winch. The downside here is just that the winch is TIGHT. There's about 1mm clearance behind the winch to the grill so the solenoid has to be side mounted and is touching the frame of the stinger. So a cover is a no go. That said I plan to cut some fabric and make a custom wrap so wish me luck. I love the look of this bumper. Just love it.

MetalCloak License Plate Relocation.
This one boggles my mind. I got this thing, I looked at it cross eyed for about a day or so. The wiring that is included with the kit is just awful. Just awful. There are some butt splice connectors, there was about a foot of cord (need several). It was all just terrible. The brake light and license plate lights had connectors on them you have to cut off. Short story is get some good heat shrink waterproof butt connectors. Get a good 3 wire waterproof connect so you can actually disconnect the wire to take off the tire. Once I made a new wiring harness, bought enough cable to wire it, and installed it I like it except... it sticks out so far. Like near a foot out the back of the tire. I'm not sure why this is. On the instructions they have he wiring going out the back of the tube through a hollowed screw (which isn't hollow). I planned on just hacking off half the tube to put the plate tighter to the tire. After that I will love it lol. I posted a pic of the wiring harness I made. now I just unscrew that connection and pop this puppy is free. Also the license plate light bleeds light backwards (not legal) so used liquid electrical tap to cover the clear plastic that was allowing that. This is the part I was probably least happy about. Instructions had errors, wire not long enough, and nothing supplied was waterproof. I really wish this thing came prewired just like I show it for the price. My work looks janky and lumpy (zero wiring experience) but it's solid and waterproof.

Rock Slide Engineering Step Slides.
Oh man, this was my first mod and it was a huge undertaking. Body bolts, induction heaters. I was so proud when I got them on and when I started to do the wiring seemed so easy. Just run it through the port in the firewall... What port? Lol. I have a manual so that port was occupied by the clutch. Long story short I hooked them into my interior Aux switches which in and of themselves took many hours of cursing with a flashlight to find the bundle tucked waaaaaaay up in the dash.

Please note with the exception of the license plate I'm not bashing anything. The metalwork on these pieces is gorgeous. I have no illusions that any other license plate kit would have been less a nightmare. LOL. I'm very happy with my purchases and while I cursed and threw crap for each install when finally done the hands to up in the air shouting "I did it, I did it!"

Soon to be Midland MXT275
Soon to be Rock Hard 4x4 Adjustable Tire Mount and Hinge Braces.

Wish List is for Metalcloak gamechanger 2.5 and Fender Liners.

Running MC front and rear bumper and fenders on my JT. I added the rock rails and loving it. Very well built. Only disappointment was the D-ring design for rear bumper. You think they would have had it match their front bumper but instead the hole is rotated 90” so your d-Ring will flop around so kind of pointless. Factory hooks much better. Hopefully MC gets this fixed.

Just finish installing all my goodies! Fenders, fender liners, bumpers, steering, seat support, and skid plate system. Everything is so well built! The welds are great and the fit-and-finish is among the best I’ve seen. Out of everything, I only had to clearance two holes.

The fenders and fender liners require the installation of a lot of rivnuts...but all the drilling is worth it! The fenders are solid!

The bumpers are sturdy and look great on the JL. I don’t have a hitch on my Jeep, but I ran into the same issue as DocTwinkie. Even with the relocation bracket that was installed previously, my 35” tire hit the new bumper and the tailgate wouldn’t close. A new relocation brackets fixed that.

The skid system is a thing of beauty! Almost makes me sad to think that it will get scratched up. As beefy as all the plates are, I wouldn’t be surprised if Metalcloak had a side business of selling armor plating for tanks!

I am currently running wheel spacers so I had a lot of bump steer...luckily no death wobble. After installing the steering kit, almost all of the bump steer is gone. The kit is a massive upgrade over stock components!

The best part is that all of the parts work well together in both function and aesthetics!

Looks great. What relocation bracket did you use?
My biggest concern was making sure the tire is on the isolators (though I’m not sure if that’s really necessary). Cause with most brackets as you move the tire out to clear the bumper you’re also moving it away from the isolators.

For the time being, I went with a Rough Country relocation bracket. They make two versions of this bracket. One for Jeeps without backup sensors and one for Jeeps with them. Once I switched to 35s, the spare would no longer fit with the stock bumper. I don’t have the backup sensors so I bought the bracket for no sensors which raises the tire up like 2.25”. After I installed the Metalcloak bumper, the bracket I had wouldn’t work, but the bracket for Jeeps with sensors raises the tire up like 4.75”...so I ordered it and it lifts my 35” spare up above the rear bumper. I don’t want to use it as a permanent solution, but it works just fine...it doesn’t rattle or anything. My spare just catches the isolators with the stock rims, but I took some chair leg tips and stuck them in the isolators to firm everything up (can barely see them in the pics, but you can see where mine hit). I’ve also seen people buy new isolators.

Finally have the rock hard 4x4 carrier installed. As you can see it moves the stock tire out quite a bit but the isolators get moved to the mount so it’s solid. The included hardware was crap and used nord lock washers and new bolts. You need rubber grommets to cover the holes left by the removed isolators.

2019 JLU had a cheaper 2.5 lift and drove terrible, that thing was all over the road and had alot of roll side to side in it.Then we added the Metalcloak 2.5 true dual with the rocksport shocks and it really is like a new jeep, granted we added steersmarts sector shaft brace and a falcon nexus 2.2 but man the lift is sweet. We have owned several jeeps and never had a lifted jeep that drives and rides like this,I would never own another lift other than Metalcloak and we have been through 6 different brands some cheap and some expensive, this is hands down the best lift I have ever owned by miles. Hopefully adding the metalcloak front lca's and rear upper and lower control arms soon. The gold took some getting used to but now it's my favorite thing on my jeep. The 2nd and 4th picture is with the metalcloak lift, the other ones are with another brand on it and they're not even comparable.
