Hey all
Yeah, it's been almost a full month and I'm still going through my photos from this year's KOH (roughly 6k photos). If you've never been to KOH, this is one of those bucket list items; it's like Burning Man with 4x4s; a full week and a half of racing, wheeling and partying. Even though it's pretty much controlled chaos 24x7, it's amazing how the Ultra4 group keeps things organized and running pretty smoothly. Si with that being said, here's a bit of a recap:

Monday: Woke up at 4:30 am to make the 8 hour drive to Johnson Valley, with the goal being to make it there by 2 pm for a media safety meeting for the Holley Shootout and to capture some shots of the Everyman Challenge power hour. I made it in time and there were no issues on the way down. Now the original idea was to drive down in my JKUR and camp/sleep inside my rig like usual, however, last year's temps (18's -20 degrees at night) made me rethink about camping in my soft top Jeep, so I decided to take my FJ cruiser which has a bit more insulation (and I just put on brand new 33 inch BFGs on it). Yes I know, a Toyota but to be honest, an 8 hour drive in a JKUR with freezing night time temps isn't that appealing.
The road to the Hammers right after Barstow and the FJ that got me there

One of my favorite things about KOH is pulling into Hammertown; as you make the turn from Boone Road, you're met with a sea of RV, rigs, ATVs, UTvs.

Monday con.
From 9-4pm, the 4400 & the 4880 classes were having qualifying runs and my friends and I were able to get some shots of that

This my friends rig and he had a good run but after the qualifications, his transmission decided that it had had enough and died. Sadly, they couldn't compete in the EMC on Wed.

Tuesday
The great thing about Tuesday is that the weather decided to warm up at night (Monday got a bit cold at night, like around 26-30 degrees ). It was also tech day and the Power Hour, which is the last chance qualifier (LCQ) for the 4400, 4800, 4500 class. This is run on the short course and the action is pretty quick but they were still charging it pretty hard.

Wednesday
Sorry for the delay. This was the day for the trophy trucks and I have to say, they were pretty cool! I'm used to technical crawling, go kind of slow racing but these rigs were going at ludicrous speed. I mean, I know if I were to take my JK above 30 mph out on the desert, it'd probably shake itself apart.

Thanks! that one is one of my favorites as well. It was awesome to be that close to the racers as they crossed the finish line and can't wait to do it all again next year
