JL Axle Fail

Found these on Instagram today. Looks like a Jeeper going a little fast with 38” MTr-K’s was too much for the CAD section of the axle. Seems like this old design on this axle should have stayed in the past?

On a side note. That is the worst front bumper I have ever seen. Looks like it’s made of sheet metal from the side.

I've always heard bad things about the previous vacuum disconnects, but mainly because of leaks that would prevent it from engaging. Did those axles have problems breaking like this one?

From what I understand it was a common weak point in the old axles and was prone to fracturing.

Interesting tire selection too. The whole thing seems a little fishy. Any real life account on what really happened yet?

Yes, looking at the damage to the parts in front of the axle he hit something pretty hard. And I'll bet that it smashed the wheel/tire as well and they used a non-matching spare to roll it up on the trailer.
