Asked on another forum and had the manual posted as well and finally got some answers.
call button seems to send out a call tone though no one seems to know fir what purpose and it isn’t used apparently. I think it’s like a ring but since you can just speak no clue why it’s there
call tone just changes that tone.
Squelch is what I meant so my bad. From what I can gather that’s a static cutoff. So if you set it super low then lot of static but hear weaker signals and super high less static but need a strong signal.
The MX275 is a great 15 watt unit. The tones I believe are sub audible and really used for connecting through repeaters. From what I understand, when you set a tone on a given channel, it can cut down on the extra chatter by ignoring the other folks on the channel without the tones. There are some great YouTube videos on GMRS and specifically the MXT275.
