Eaton eLocker spec changed on passenger shaft taper

I’m getting a Carbon 44/60 installed with Eaton eLockers. The front locker would not disengage during the shop’s checkout. After a bunch of troubleshooting and Carbon building a repro axle, they found that Eaton changed their locker. The spec change was not published.

Passenger side taper of the locker is a few thousands of an inch different. Didn’t work with the Carbon axle shafts, and possibly other brands/stock axle shafts impacted.

Carbon re-tapered an axle shaft, overnighted it, and the shop should finish install it this week. It worked well in the mock-up.

Wanted to give people a heads-up if they bought a Eaton eLocker in 2019 that won’t disengage.

Well that sucks. Thanks for the update on the change. So I assume everytime you need an axle shaft replaced its going to need modifications? That will make things interesting if your in a pinch.

Carbon has a 10 year warranty on the cromoly shaft & housing, so hopefully I won’t need to find a replacement in a pinch. It will be interesting to see if other shafts are affected as more eLockers are installed this year.
