60's and 40's for Christmas?

If you are one of those dreaming of Dana 60's pushing 40's down the road, tell us why you want to go that big, and on what rig you would do this combo?

I have that dream! My current Jeep is an 02 sport with baby 30/35 axles. I decided I definitely need to upgrade. My thinking was that I could save up and buy Ruby axles, but then I would want to truss and regear them and still only have Dana 44's. I figured I may as well just go to tons instead. I was able to get a matched set of 03 Superduty axles for $400. I have since picked up a clean frame and tub off of an 04 and an LS. May as well go big!

I'm awaiting mine to come in. I wanted to re-gear and get lockers. With labor for the re-gear, it wasn't that far away to just get new axles, esp since I didn't think it was good to spend the money upgrading a D30 front. Then I fell down the slippery slope of getting a great deal to upgrade from a 44 to 60 rear.

My wife has taken the position that they're not just my Christmas present, but also birthday, anniversary and all other presents for the next year or three.

Eventually I will go down that road. If angthjng for piece of mind due to the weight of my JKU. But there is a trail here at Windrock called Rattle Rock and you wouldn’t dare run it with out 40’s. I guess you can say it’s a personal goal of mine to conquer that trail in a JKU and film the journey.

I would set up my YJ with 60s and 40s over my JK. It’s much lighter and still comfortable enough to conquer the trails that makes a 40 have to work...the JKU, not so much.

I would spend some serious time in Colorado, probably starting with Holy Cross.

My dream is Dynatrac or Currie 60s On 40s but it’s all the other stuff you have to get that keep that dream so far away. New bead lock wheels, hydraulic steering, and driveshafts just to name a couple. I’ll never stop trying to make it happen though. My thought was I can get a 60 rear first and stay on my 44 front until I can afford to do more. Sucks not being rich.

To answer OPs question, the main reason I want to do this to my JKUR is because I build everything with bombproof reliability. I take very good care of my Jeep and I don’t drive like it’s stolen. I just want to own a Jeep that I can say, yeah I can try this line, and not worry about breaking anything in the drivetrain. 40s? Because every JKU looks perfect on 40s and the ground clearance would be awesome.

Eventually a 60 rear and 44 front will be in the plans, little tight this year but I think it'll make sense to upgrade vs paying for new gear sets and install of lockers in my rear dana 44 and then purchasing a dana 44 front and having it beefed up.
