Our Image and the Bad Guys

So what do you think we should do when we encounter bad guys doing bad things on our trails -- even if they act innocent and claim they don't know the rules; or say they're not hurting anything by being off trail?

It depends on the situation, if they are truly lost, then it's an opportunity to tell them to stay on the trail, that they could be fined etc. Now, if the person(s) is on purpose going off trail, then it's a bit more confrontational but never to the point that it gets violent. Fortunately in the past it's been more more the case of someone just not knowing the rules than someone who is destructive.

Best thing I believe that could be done is to quickly explain that what they are doing is going to harm the overall off-roading community. I know that some folks will be hostile regardless but if they are willing to listen, maybe they will be willing to learn something.

I believe you try to have a conversation with them about it. Depending on they respond will dictate if you keep it civil or go full redneck on their azz! Regardless, no one will get better about things unless someone says something to them about it. I am also not opposed to calling the law if need be. Sometimes they got to learn the hard way
