Sector shaft bracing

Can someone break down what this does? I know it is prolly a dumb question but hey I'm a dumb guy! I am assuming this prevents any lateral movement of the steering shaft at the pitman arm. Any further clarifications would be greatly appreciated.

Similar to Synergy's sector shaft brace. Same but different ways of doing it. Im no engineer, from what ive read hydro assist removes a lot of forces from the drag link and sector shaft. Thats why braces are not a popular mod.

It was a very popular mod on CJs, but the frames were a lot weaker than on the TJ or JK. A TJ or JK shouldn't have enough flex to warrant a brace like that.
